About Me

I am a 500 Hour RYT trained in San Francisco, I have 15 years experience in Yoga, Mat Pilates and the Healthy Back Method I created. For me Yoga is more than just poses, its connecting to my breath, my body and showing up for myself.  Yoga  is a lifestyle manifesting kindness that reverberates outward.

My Story

I started yoga about 18 years ago when a back injury brought me to an Anusara Yoga Studio.  I had an amazing teacher and through excellent instruction and precise alignment my disc bulge healed. I was 100% hooked on the practice and my initial study began with Anusara Yoga and the principles of alignment – which are still the nuts and bolts of my teaching today.

I advanced my training through numerous styles of yoga, searching for a broad spectrum of knowledge and embracing the wisdom of each and every Teacher.  Their individual styles of poses and philosophy gave me the tools to create my own unique perspective and creative sequencing.  I love the path I took and the road I am on.

I am grateful for my teachers: John Friend, Desiree Rambaugh, Sean Haleen, Janet Stone, Annie Carpenter, Stacey Rosenberg, Darren Main, Harvey Deutsch, Larry Payne and Joan Schaner, who I am forever indebted to as my first yoga teacher. Each instructor, each style of yoga informs my teaching. My primary focus is on proper alignment, without this we are mindlessly moving our bodies. Stacking the bones, lining up the joints, holding strong where needed or softening;  the dance between effort and ease is where I like to teach, ultimately educating my students on their bodies. In today’s culture it’s easy to get stuck in the images of the poses instead of how we feel in that moment. I practice and teach with a lighthearted approach. Yoga is not a performance art, it is beautiful and individual.  My mantra is always: if you are in alignment you are in the pose, no matter what somebody else looks like.
